Two teams from each league should get in. Any more is overkill.

It's tough with 16 teams, but wildcards work in leagues for the same reason they work in real life.

I am holing my vote for now. I am curious about the league structure. With 16 teams how do you plan to have the divisions and or league setup?

Wouldn't a standard 2 league with 2 div each (of 4 teams) seem about normal?

    Then 2 div winners and 2 wc's?

Half the league is in the playoffs.

    ........yeah, I'm not for that.

How about 2 division winners and one wild card. Best record gets a bye.

And then "half the league" won't be in the playoffs. Wink

    Interesting idea.

It depends on the structure, assuming we go with 2 leagues of 8 with 2 divisions in each, I definitely wouldn't want it. If we went with a more old school setup (2 leagues of 8, no divisions) I'd be a little more open to it.

As far as I know, sometimes it isn't much, this version of OOTP isn't capable of having a bye in the playoffs.

Again, I don't know everything but this doesn't seem to make sense. If you have two leagues with two divisions each with 4 teams in each division, you would end up with 4 division winners in the playoffs, not 2. The you add the wild cards and you have too large a portion of the league making it into the playoffs.

To me the regular season should be important in the fact that not everyone has a chance to sneak into the post-season.

Whatever, I was just throwing out ideas.

I think a 4 div setup is the best. So if you just want div winners and 25% of the league in then so be it.

I once again just trying to spark interest.

If you have either 1 team of 4 (4 total) or 1 team of 8 (2 total) on each side making playoffs, you are once again giving guys reasons not to care.

I find 4 of 8 just gives 75% or more of the league excitement and a chance to make the playoffs. If you only have 2 teams total or just div winners to make the playoffs then thats only potentially 50% of the league who care the whole year.

I agree that too many waters down the importance of the reg season, but it still promotes exports and the wanting to keep paying atention. You eliminate 8 teams from caring 2/3 of the ay thru the season we will be recruiting 2-3 guys every year. Don't we really want to see the same 16 guys for 20 seasons if possible?

NO wildcards if we are doing 4 / 4 team divisions. If it's no divisions within the leagues then YES on wildcards.

4 teams should make the playoffs when all is said and done.

    No divisions.

Wildcards would mean four teams, no wildcards would mean two teams.

Well then you can change my vote to YES for wildcards.

Yeah, this is a pretty big thing when considering wild cards or not.

If we have no divisions, just two leagues of 8 teams, then I would vote FOR wild cards.

My vote has now been cast in favor of wildcards

I think wildcards are very good. For one they keep owners involved with their teams for much longer (especially if you are not in first place)

    Quoted from the commish.

With this setup we should definitely run with wildcards. Otherwise, we will only have two playoff teams.

Ok, well then that's fine with me (my vote was for no wildcards).

We might need to re-run this poll with the fact that there are no divisions stated in the beginning.

Just went through and three votes were changed from no to yes, giving wildcards the majority.

    Good catch, Shane. Very Happy
